Hourglass Quilt in front of building

Cause how often is it 9am on a Friday and you are looking at any clock (or hourglass) you walk by checking to see if it’s 5 o’clock yet?

This was the pattern that I developed for my first quilt ever, it’s super easy for any beginner quilter and is the pattern is OFFICIALLY available in the quilt shop!

So if you like this quilt and pattern head on over there now to check it out. In the mean time, here’s all the details of my latest quilt project!

Why I used this for my first quilt ever

This pattern is literally so easy. You could mess up every single block and still have a great finished product.

When I first made this pattern, it was by accident and literally my first quilt ever. I didn’t know that there were fancier ways to make an hourglass block.

So I went with what I could figure out easily and came up with this great beginner alternative to a traditional hourglass quilt block.

You don’t have to worry about trying to make half square triangles or a traditional hourglass quilt block with perfect points.

Or even worry about try to tackle sashing.

Super easy and straight forward. This pattern can be handled by any one at any experience level.

This is literally the best first quilt to tackle

Sometimes the hardest part about making a quilt is choosing the fabrics that you are going to use in it.

I love that this pattern looks so great with just two colors, it limits your choices and you don’t have to waste time or effort trying to worry about having the perfect colors in the perfect locations.

What is a color wheel, and all that.

You’d be surprised how many people hesitate to start their first project because of deciding on colors.

So this one is super simple and minimal. Grab a white and any other color and jump right in.

What did I do to quilt it?

To quilt it I stayed pretty easy with just some straight line quilting.

But instead of a straight stitch, I used a preset zig zag stitch on my machine.

The pattern is simple and minimal so I wanted to keep the quilting simple and minimal.

But not boring. Quilts are never boring 🙂

So I have a bunch of pictures included so look around and enjoy!

Oh! And if you like this pattern, its for sale so be sure to check it out here.

Hope you like it!
